Interview with Freddie Jones – Music, Spirituality, Sexuality

This is the first of what I hope will be many interviews on the integral nature of creativity, spirituality & sexuality – on the impact that art & creativity have on our humanity by inspiring us to Wholeness.

I first met Freddie Jones through my sister, Kelly. She was singing with him & then invited him to perform as a featured artist on some of her Local Honey shows, of which I am often a part. Kelly told me that Freddie “totally gets” the stuff that turns me on – spirituality, sexuality, creativity as our link to our Creator, to Cosmic Consciousness, to the Divine Feminine, et al. Kelly & I were joking backstage one night about some deep insight into the chakras (you have to laugh about it all sometimes, you know) & Freddie said, “Oh, you’re into all that, too, huh?” And there we were.

Where two or three of you are gathered together in my name, there I am also.”
 Matthew 18:20

One night, we joined Freddie on one of his gigs at a cool club called Pearl. I decided to take my camera. It’s not that easy to perform & also shoot an interview in between songs or sets! I don’t pretend to be an expert videographer; my desire is to capture moments of Spirit. Spirit is manifest in each one of us. It is exhilarating to witness that power, energy, truth & beauty in an individual personality. When the individual is aware of his/her power to channel creative energy – God – we are lifted into a whole new dimension. We are co-creators in the transformation of the ordinary into the extraordinary. Freddie is aware & magic happens.

Thank you, Freddie, for sharing your gifts & for allowing me to pry into the intimate mystery of your soul a little.

Readers, I’d love to hear from you. Your thoughtful comments bring a lot to the table. What is your experience with music as a vehicle to remind you of your connection to God, the Infinite, your Higher Self?
